You Tubin’
Some new Friday video love before YouTube! officially goes the way of the geechee…
The newest Dreamgirls trailer…You finally get to see Eddie Murphy. I’ve heard he’s spot on in the movie. GOod to see him back in the mix.
Justin Timberlake’s video for “My Love”…He’s back and he brought the dancing with him. I’m glad. Not to mention the remix of the song in the open makes me happy.
And finally one of my new favorite British girls Amy Winehouse was on my other favorite Brit girl Charlotte Church’s show recently. She was drunk as you please and did nothing to hide it.
Quite appropriate for someone who currently has a single titled “Rehab”.The fact they are doing a cover of “Beat It” adds to the laughter factor.

I ain’t never scared…merely startled
It is widely known that I am an unbelievable punk of the highest caliber when it comes to horror movies. 28 Days Later made me cry real tears. I just don’t find being scared a “fun” experience. That said I have every intention of going to see The Grudge 2 this weekend.
I saw the first and it was lukewarm and not scary. The Japanese original “Ju-On” is much better (just like “Ringu” beats the hell out of “The Ring”).
For some reason it just like cheesy horror much like the movie that meant to be scary but is fun hijinks “Man’s Best Friend”. I totally expect to bust into laughter at least twice during the movie.
If I’m wrong then I’ll probably end up crying again. We’ll see. Next weekend Marie Antoinette. yay.

Trailer Time
It’s Sunday…Less words more pictures
Blood Diamonds…should be good as long as they don’t use that damn Kanye “Diamonds are Forever” somewhere along the line. That would be too much.
El Cortez…Lou Diamond Philips. You know you love it.
Deliver Us From Evil…First Jesus Camp now this.
Keeping Mum…Maggie Smith and Patrick Swayze in the same movie? Yes, please.
Discuss!

What the hell were you about?
Dear Miami Vice,
What the hell were you about?
While some critics are raving about Michael Mann throwing the idea of a solid narrative out of the window I was trying to focus on the damn story for more than 2 minutes without the film stock changing suddenly.
Now the 2 Giant Blue Hawaiis and gut full of fancy vittles I had was not the only reason I fell asleep for 15 minutes (last time I did that was during Pokemon 3…don’t ask) and when I woke up the Chinese-Cuban woman whose mother died in Africa that had an Italian name was meeting Colin Farrell to make out in the back of an SUV in Bolivia. After that it got confusing.
My Homeslice Lori and I gave up on the story and instead gauged the order in which the movie was filmed by Jamie Foxx getting darker and lighter throughout the movie. We also discussed his ZZ-Top beard and heckled the screen in general.
Now for the facts the following statements are true about Miami Vice:
- Colin could have skipped the facial hair…very Manson and I don’t mean Marilyn.
- You can tell alot of money went into the cinematography..A whole new camera technique was created for the movie. If it was easier to follow I would have appreciated it more.
- The “bad” guys were not believable. They needed some Walken or Tim Robbins in that mess.
- Newly Sober gym going Colin Farrell + running = sexy
- You are supposed to put the following in the beginning of a film

That way I will know the movie has started. Not doing so doesn’t make me feel like you’ve dropped me right into the action with two Miami street cops, it makes me feel like they pressed the wrong button in the projection room.
Love,
Me

Trailer Love
Saw some great trailers I hadn’t seen before tonight during "A Scanner Darkly" and just wanted to share.

The Science of Sleep - Directed by Michel Gondry who has made some of the most lovely music videos you will ever see with your eyes as well as "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" this looks like a trippy ass movie that will leave you respecting the set and prop designers like a mother.

Tenacious D In The Pick of Destiny - Really I need a reason? "Little Man" was the number two movie in the country this weekend.
